Who is Focal Point?
Focal Point Products was founded in 1970 by Florence Inman, an interior designer, and architect Jerry Garrison. Florence realized that designers, builders, and homeowners needed alternatives to the labor-intensive processes of the time while maintaining impeccable quality and design. One of her solutions was to take the painstaking steps of custom wood moldings and make it so easy that the average 'self-proclaimed' handyman could successfully install it on his own.
The key to her solution was using high-density polyurethane. By introducing polyurethane instead of typical wood material, Focal point was able to make installation a breeze. In 1978, Focal Point was awarded the ASID International Design Award for its innovative mouldings. Today, some of their trademark systems like the QuickClip and Moulding Mates don't require any nails or special equipment!
Why Focal Point?
Pashko installing crown moulding in the bathroom. Any product that makes his job easier has my approval. Especially if it means my bathroom is completed sooner! Crown moulding almost completed in the bathroom. Definitely gives the cabinets a nice touch. Don't you agree?
Why does quality polyurethane from Focal point make a difference with my crown moulding?
- It's the same density as a wood material like pine but only a fraction of the weight. That makes for less heavy lifting for my contractor and easier installation. Anything to make his job easier is a plus in my book.
- It is the only polyurethane manufacturer that offers a truly easy do-it-yourself product. Don't worry I have no intention of installing the moulding myself, I'll still leave that to the professionals.
- It can be painted, stained, and/or finished. So I can make sure the moulding matches each room where it is installed.
- All of Focal Point's products resist rot, mildew, insects, checking, splintering, cracking and warping. As I have no intention of going through renovation process again, this is key.
