Why David Cyr and why LED?

  • David has a passion for lighting. His philosophy: "lighting plays such a key role in how we see and experience a space. Good lighting can make a space more beautiful and functional; bad lighting can render a place unattractive, uncomfortable, or unusable."
  • David is an awesome communicator. He is extremely knowledgeable on all aspects of what can be a complicating subject. With so many new products and designs, the options can be endless. David makes the selection process very manageable.
  • With the discovery of my hallway ceiling being so uneven and the option of new lighting a possibility, LED become my choice! David with his seemingly infinite wisdom on lighting recommended a quality recessed LED fixture that would work.
  • David is in the process of publishing a article titled LED's Shine in Commercial Applications. It could easily be renamed, LED's Shine in Residential Applications. LED (light-emitting diodes) are transforming the lighting industry. With a life span upwards of 30 times that of an incandescent bulb, minimal maintenance requirements and low energy consumption, LED's are the wave of the future.

James Corbett Studio - 25 West 19th Street (New York, NY)Completed entirely with LED lighting.Amazing lighting in this hair salon, created with great color rendition ( who wants to see themselves looking grey and washed out after spending beau coup-bucks on a new do, right? )Advantages: LED  saves on heat build-up (we all know how hot it can getin a hair salon), great energy efficiency (saves on the lighting bill.... just add up just how many lights are on 7 days a week, in this space?) and a added bonus, almost never...I mean NEVER needing to change a light bulb.Does it get any better than this?

If you think these design feats are impressive, stay tuned to hear about David's biggest lighting challenge and it's significance on our American history....
